This Bathroom is Done!

To be honest, my hall bathroom has been done for a while. It just took FOREVER to finish up the details - roman shade, bath accessories and the art. I did not want to put any holes in that wallpaper until I was sure what I wanted. So, here’s the final result…

And let me give you a little reminder of how it looked before and you can see more on my first blog post.

Because I ordered everything before I scheduled the remodel, we were only without a hall bathroom for a few weeks. It was a little bit of a struggle getting everyone here when they were supposed to, but I just kept on top of things each day. The BIGGEST LESSON I learned is to hire someone to do everything! I thought it wouldn’t be too hard to remove the cabinetry ourselves. I was wrong. After two hours and a trip to Home Depot for the right tools, it was finally out. Keep scrolling to see the progress and the finished product!

Now, let’s talk numbers. Before I got any estimates, I only wanted to spend $4,000. Then I get some initial numbers back from the plumber and tile installer, which were more than I thought. So I upped it to $5,000 and I went $319 over budget. Here’s the final breakdown of what I spent:

Here are a few ways I saved:

  • Shower Curtain - Instead of having a custom one made, I went the ready-made route. To get the height and fullness I wanted, I purchased two ready-made drapery panels (84” long) from Target and mounted them on a decorative rod. The liner is on its own rod behind the pretty one. I can always add a custom shower curtain later.

  • Mirror - I scored a deal at Home Goods!

  • Tub and Tile - I kept my existing tub and tile. It was white with a black accent and keeping it saved me about $1,000.

  • Vanity - Finding the ready-made vanity was the BEST find of the bathroom. I was able to customize it by changing out the hardware.

  • Framed Art - I purchased the print online and found a ready-made frame for less than $20.

Stay tuned for the next big project on Pine Street!
