One Room Challenge {week five and six}

One Room Challenge - Jennifer Taylor Design

Last week, the organizers of the One Room Challenge asked everyone to pause so we could honor and respect the victims of racism and police brutality. This downtime was appreciated and I’m glad to be back with an update on my master bedroom project.

The biggest thing that happened since my last update was the painting, which I’m proud to say I did all by myself. I only tackled the walls, but that was enough. At first, I was afraid they were too purple but as the light changed I began to fall in love with the color. In the morning they have a gray cast and in the evenings, a warm rosy glow. Who doesn’t love a warm glow??

The other thing I realized is that I CAN’T DO DIY PROJECTS! I took another stab at my large mirror and I’m afraid it looks even worse. So, I realized that I got my 18 years worth of use from it and it will go to a better place - the charity pile. This week I’m deciding what to put in its place. I really love having a full-length mirror so back to the drawing board.

I’m still in a “waiting game” as art gets framed, draperies are being made, new shades are being shipped and my headboard is being upholstered. In addition to painting the walls, I was able to get two other tasks marked off my list. The framed photographs above my bed and new bedding installed. Since my headboard is gone, a little blue painters tape helped me get the photos in just the right spot.

Enjoy the little video of how I made up my bed. I’m not 100% loving the bedding. it seems a little flat, so I’m thinking of adding a down comforter either under the main quilt or the one folded at the end of the bed to give it a little lift. I also need to steam out all the wrinkles.

Thanks for Reading!

Jennifer
