Dreams Come True {final take}

I’ve done a lot of installations in my 30 year career, but this bedroom just hit different. It’s hard to put it into words, so let’s just start with Victoria’s reveal video. Her younger siblings were as excited as she was.

Victoria is 15 and was diagnosed with Optic Glioma, which is a slow growing brain tumor that eventually affects the vision. A few months ago Anna with Dreams Come True reached out asking if we would help with a bedroom makeover and I couldn’t say yes fast enough. Check out my previous blog post to see some before photos and the presentation details.

For this project we needed three days. First, we painted. Chris Leskanic donated his time to get the new colors up and Sherwin Williams donated the paint. Victoria selected Rainwashed and it made such a difference.

Day two started with a delivery of all the furniture and everything had to be put together. We were on a very tight budget which means assembly required. My team (Annelise and Mandy) along with our installers (James and Lucas) and Anna knocked it out of the park! There were styrofoam pieces everywhere and we must have said “this is not lining up” a hundred times.

Day three started with getting the floors cleaned up (see the video above) and then the fun part started. We got to bring Victoria’s bedroom to life! She had a VERY long wish list and we got everything on it - a loft bed, posters, greenery, traffic mirror, record player, lots of cozy blankets, storage for art supplies, make-up vanity with lights, comfortable chair and clouds hanging from the ceiling. It was truly a bedroom inspired by TikTok!

I drove away exhausted but filled with complete joy and then later I received this text from the Dreams Come True coordinator, Anna:

Thank you! Jennifer I can’t begin to express how thankful I am for you and your team. You guys were AMAZING! She is over the moon, very excited about everything. She was FaceTiming her friends right when you stepped out. You guys, I can’t thank you enough. You made such a difference in that girls life, she now has a space to relax and find peace.

Being able to do things for others is truly my love language. I’ve always believed that what you give, will come back to you in different ways. I hope to be able to help make more dreams come true for families in the future.

Thanks for Reading!
Jennifer
