Giving Back
This time of year there is a lot of talk about "giving back", as the holidays seem to be the best time for us to feel guilty as we buy needless gifts for all of our loved ones. I admit it - I have been wooed into that trap as I watch Tim Tebow going into local Walmarts and paying off layaways. For the third year in a row, Wes and I have adopted two Salvation Army angels. I love this program because it's local and we get a few details about the child - their first name, age, wish list and sizes. Wes loves picking out the toys and I like putting together a few new outfits. If you are looking to do something like this, I highly suggest finding your local Angel Tree and adopting one of these deserving children.
Thanks to Facebook, I've been introduced to Courtney Defeo who runs a blog called Lil Light o Mine. She recently posted a story about a sweet lady she met while visiting Disney World who has been cleaning bathrooms there for over 40 years! I highly recommend reading the story and watching the video as she lights up Curlie's day. A great example of giving back this holiday season.
I encourage all of you to find someone to bless this holiday season, whether it's your neighbor, the men who pick up your trash each week or a family at your church that could use some help with gifts this year. It takes a little effort, but it's worth it. Merry Christmas!
