Bathroom Trends: What’s Hot in 2025

Designing bathrooms is one of my favorite things to do. From cabinetry layouts and tile to lighting and hardware, every detail is important in creating a space that is not only beautiful but also functional. Bathrooms are one of the most frequently used rooms in a home and they also can be a personal retreat at the end of a long day.

If you're planning a bathroom update, here are some trends that I’m liking in the coming year.

Wet Rooms
A wet room is a fully waterproofed space where the shower and bathtub are together, inside an enclosure. This design works well if you are short on space as they share the same open area. It also makes cleaning a lot easier. We designed this wet room for some clients who wanted a place where their grandchildren could splash as much as they wanted when they came to visit.

Statement Wallpaper
I’ve been using wallpaper in bathrooms for a very long time. A good hanger and an even better exhaust fan is all you need for a successful installation. From florals to geometric patterns and textured prints, wallpaper is a great way to introduce color and personality in your bathroom.

Black Accents
Adding touches of black, in any room, is a favorite of mine. A black faucet, bath accessories and cabinet hardware provide a simple contrast in a bathroom, that tends to have lighter finishes in everything else. This mood board we put together shows a more modern bathroom design where we brought in a touch of black in the light fixture and cabinet pulls.

Luxurious Countertops
Higher end materials like quartzite, marble and even porcelain slabs are becoming go-to choices for countertops. Not only do they offer durability, but their natural beauty gives you a truly unique look as no two slabs are exactly alike. Here are a few photos from a recent trip to our local stone yard. It was a hard decision for my client, but she found the perfect slab for her new kitchen!

Warm Wood Cabinetry
Grays are finally taking a backseat as warm, natural wood cabinetry gains popularity. Using stained wood brings warmth and organic texture to bathrooms, working beautifully with both contemporary and traditional designs. This bathroom we designed for our client’s son shows how using stain highlights the wood’s natural beauty and it’s more durable than painted.

Mixing Metals
Gone are the days of sticking to just one metal finish. Mixing metals, such as chrome with black or polished nickel with brass, is one of my favorite ways of giving a bathroom a unique look. The key is to choose complementary finishes and distribute them thoughtfully throughout the space.

Whether you're planning a complete bathroom renovation or just looking to refresh your space with a few key updates, these trends can help you create a bathroom that is both stylish and functional. Just remember, it’s important to strike a balance! Going too trendy can date your bathroom quickly. Instead, focus on timeless elements and bring in trends through accents that can be easily changed such as lighting and cabinet hardware.
